Shovel Rake

Both the shovel and the rake are LEVERS. As the person pushes downwards, the shovel pushes the dirt upwards.

Both the shovel and the rake are WEDGES. When you use a shovel, you push your foot on the top of the shovel and push down. The WEDGE allows the dirt to separate easily when making your hole. Then when you have pushed down enough, you pull the shovel up away from you.

The WEDGE on the rake allows you to break up the soil into pieces. Breaking up the soil allows more oxygen to enter the soil, which helps bacteria break up nitrogen to be used by plants in the nitrogen cycle.

BULB_PLANTER.jpg

We also used bulb planters. You simply place in the dirt and twist. That will create a hole you can place your bulbs in.

Hand Rake the hand rake is used as the same thing as a normal rake just smaller and can be used better

Every single tool has an important use in the garden. All of them work together to make sure that a plant grows correctly. If some things were removed from the tools we had, things probably would not grow as well.
